In Leica – A Century of Vision, director and producer Reiner Holzemer traces a century of photography shaped by a single camera. From defining moments of the 20th century to the stories of today, Leica has been at the side of those who witnessed the world, turning observation into iconic images. Through archival footage and powerful voices, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, who described his camera as “an extension of the eye,” the film reveals photography as both memory and movement. From conflict and change to culture and identity, Leica has captured it all, and continues to do so today through a new generation of photographers. Reiner Holzemer is a documentary filmmaker working with leading figures in photography and fashion since 1983. His films, including Dries and Martin Margiela: In His Own Words, have been shown at international festivals and distributed in over 60 countries.
In 2020, The Hollywood Reporter named his Margiela film the Best Fashion Documentary of the Decade. His recent work includes Lars Eidinger – To Be or Not to Be (Gilde Film Award), Thom Browne – The Man Who Tailors Dreams (DOC NYC), and Akris – Fashion with a Heritage (Tribeca X, Newport Beach Film Festival).
